Wow, Thanks

By diannedunnagan

Thought for the moment:

Even if it isn’t Thanksgiving, this is the time to say I appreciate and am thankful for ALL my blessings; those I know are blessings and those I am unaware are blessings as well.

As I have studied the Bible more closely for the last eight years, I have learned more surely that one of the biggest mistakes anyone and any nation can make  is rejecting an opportunity to thank God.  Certainly the Lordship of Jesus Christ is paramount to all else, but next in line is a thankful heart.  Every nation that forgot God- forgot Him after they stopped thanking Him and started blaming and complaining about Him.  We have seen it no doubt in our own lives, when we grumbled about how bad things seemed and then in the midst of complaining we got something that pointed us back to God.  In those moments, in the spiritual sense, I’ve wiped my forehead - “whew,” realizing I narrowly missed the bullet -praised God for His amazing mercy toward me.

Blessings to all of you who will reflect as you read this and thank God also for your personal blessings.   Although your blessings might be different, perhaps more abundant or seemingly less, there is room for your heart to see the difference God has made in blessing you regardless of how difficult life’s struggles.  I encourage you to make your own list and “Praise God from whom all blessings flow.”  Review your list regularly, several times on bad days and enjoy a more abundant life than ever.

My list of some REAL blessings usually taken for granted

Thank you Lord for:

  • Fresh clean water to do anything from laundry to drinking
  • A bomb-less sky and freedom to live as I choose
  • The ability to READ and those who helped make this skill possible
  • The Bible in my own language and well translated
  • The loved ones in my life who, for my lifetime, have taught me truth
  • The joy and peace in knowing I have a clear conscience because my sins are forgiven because of Jesus Christ
  • Your love, oh Lord, that reaches the depth and height of all that is in need of your care
  • Beauty
  • Music that helps drive to my heart the fullness of Life, Love, Hope and Sorrow
  • Fresh air
  • An insect/pest managed residence (Thanks for the people who know how to keep the devourer away)
  • Food to nourish and strengthen my body
  • Medical care to take me out of misery and pain (over time)
  • An ability to speak, write and communicate freely
  • Technology and its portability

I found this blog very informative and uplifting. It makes you think about things that you may have never noticed in the scipture and how we should be more concerned for others that ourselves. May God bless you and continue to give you encouraging words to share with others.
